A multidimensional maximum bisection problem
This work introduces a multidimensional generalization of the maximum bisection problem. A mixed integer linear programming formulation is proposed with the proof of its correctness. The numerical tests, made on the randomly generated graphs, indicates that the multidimensional generalization is more difficult to solve than the original problem.
متن کاملMultidimensional global extremum seeking via the DIRECT optimisation algorithm
DIRECT is a sample-based global optimisation method for Lipschitz continuous functions defined over compact multidimensional domains. This paper adapts the DIRECT method with a modified termination criterion for global extremum seeking control of multivariable dynamical plants. Finite-time semi-global practical convergence is established based on a periodic sampled-data control law, whose sampl...
متن کاملA connected multidimensional maximum bisection problem
The maximum graph bisection problem is a well known graph partition problem. The problem has been proven to be NP-hard. In the maximum graph bisection problem it is required that the set of vertices is divided into two partition with equal number of vertices, and the weight of the edge cut is maximal. This work introduces a connected multidimensional generalization of the maximum bisection prob...
متن کاملAdaptive Intelligence Applied to Numerical Optimisation
The article presents modification strategies theoretical comparison and experimental results achieved by adaptive heuristics applied to numerical optimisation of several non-constraint test functions. The aims of the study are to identify and compare how adaptive search heuristics behave within heterogeneous search space without retuning of the search parameters. The achieved results are summar...
متن کاملGlobal optimisation-based control algorithms applied to boundary layer transition problems
Turbulent flow has a significantly higher drag than the corresponding laminar flow at the same flow conditions. The presence of turbulent flow over a large part of an aircraft therefore incurs a significant penalty of increased fuel consumption due to the extra thrust required. One possible way of decreasing the drag is to apply surface suction to delay the transition from laminar to turbulent ...
